CLASS PARENT REPRESENTATIVES

What is a Class Rep? 
Nominated Class Reps play a pivotal role in helping the P&C to communicate with our families. 
We communicate messages to reach out for resources, donations and volunteers for all of our school events.
School events such as the GSS Fair, Colour Explosion - Run for Fun couldn't happen without our amazing volunteers.  

Each class at GSS has a class rep who is a parent/carer volunteer from the class.
The position may be shared between two or more parents.    

What do they do?   
As a minimum…   

• Compile an email class contact list
• Create a WhatsApp group for ease of communicating   
• Forward emails from the P&C to your class throughout the year   
• Coordinate who will be the contact person/rep for school events eg. GSS Fair   

A Class Rep may also... 

• Organise social events for your class – eg. dinners, coffee mornings, park plays, Trivia night table   
• Organise teacher group gifts/cards – eg. birthday, World Teachers’ Day, Easter, Year End
• It’s up to you!     

Some helpful tips to get you started: 

Contact Lists
Work with your teacher to develop a Contact's List. 
The best way to do this is to draft an email for your teacher to send to all parents.  The email should ask the parents to get in contact with you providing their name, email and contact phone number if they would like to receive emails about class events or other events happening in the school.  From this Contact List, you will also be able to set up a WhatsApp group.  Please remember that Contact Lists must be stored safely and remain confidential.  The details should not be shared with other parents' unless you have permission from the parent/s to do so.

Class Social Events
Often Parent Reps like to organise social gatherings for the children and of course the parents from their class as a way to form friendships in and out of the classroom.  Ideas include after school plays on the netball courts or the Memorial Park playground, weekend park plays or social parent dinners.  

We also ask all our families to Like and Share the Graceville State School Parents Facebook and Instagram pages to stay in the loop!
